VisitScotland Team Beats the Drum Down-under with the Edinburgh Military Tattoo!

The return of the ever popular Edinburgh Military Tattoo to Sydney, from February 3-7, will herald a major tourism push as VisitScotland heads to Sydney to capitalise on the Tattoo’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations of 2010.
VisitScotland, Scotland’s National Tourist Board, have a week-long series of promotions and events that will target Australians with Scottish roots.

The Tattoo, which will be staged in Sydney Football Stadium against a remarkable million dollar replica of Edinburgh Castle, will be even bigger than last time with an extra “theatrical flourish” developed under the Tattoo’s new Chief Executive and Producer, Major Euan Louden, CBE.
In the course of the week, Sydney-siders will have a chance to win a trip to Scotland to the home of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo; check out their Scottish Ancestry with free online searches; visit a major photographic exhibition titled “As others See Us” for free at the Gateway Complex - 1 Macquarie Place; enjoy a traditional pub-gig with Scottish music and entertainment at the Lord Blair (aka Nelson) bar on The Rocks as well as joining a ceilidh on the Rocks and getting along to the Aussie Stadium to see the Tattoo event for themselves.
Watch-out for a kilt-clad street team who will be distributing leaflets around Sydney to entice visitors to come to Scotland in 2010. The team will also be distributing 1000s of free books across the city as part of an official BookCrossing. The book in question is “As Others See Us” - essentially the book of the exhibition - which features prominent Scots and their reflections on the life and works of Robert Burns.  Those reading the book will be encouraged to enter a sweepstakes on www.ancestralscotland.com/win to win the trip to Scotland.
