Forestry Commission Scotland's 'Family Tree'
Send us your ancestral Scottish family photos and help build a global family tree
VisitScotland and Forestry Commission Scotland are encouraging people from all over the world to think about their Scottish heritage and get involved in creating a photo wall of the global Scots family, before coming home to Scotland to see it at David Marshall Lodge, in the heart of the Trossachs National Park.
Working closely with the Royal Commission for Ancient and Historic Monuments, Forestry Commission Scotland are keen to uncover some amazing stories and photographs for their wall. They are looking for people around the world to participate and to help thousands of people to reconnect with the places that their grandparents and great grandparents used to call home.
The photo wall recently gained its first entries for the Scottish family tree when a number of celebrities with Scottish Ancestry were added to its branches. Donald Trump, Robert Burns, Sandi Thom and Ewan McGregor are just some of the big names that feature.
It’s really easy for you to take part! Simply send your old Scottish family photos to us at www.forestheritagescotland.com, which goes live from 26th January 2009. Your images, will be added to the photo wall throughout the year, creating a Scottish family tree which must be seen before taking a walk in the beautiful outdoor surroundings!
Scotland’s forests contain thousands of sites that offer evidence of lost industries and forgotten communities and our Forestry Commission Scotland’s Forest Heritage project will focus on almost 60 sites.
