Ancestral Tourism Welcome Scheme

Directory of scheme members

When you come to Scotland to visit the home of your ancestors, we want to ensure you have a warm welcome to your ancestral homeland.

From evenings of toe-tapping traditional music in friendly pubs to the colour and excitement of Highland Games, every gathering of Scots is a celebration that you'll want to be part of.
A brief summary of the whole panorama of Scottish history from the first human settlements to the present day.

VisitScotland, the Scottish Tourism Agency, has developed an ancestral-themed quality assurance scheme for Scottish tourism businesses, from accommodation providers to tour operators specialising in ancestral-themed tours.  All members of our Ancestral Tourism Welcome Scheme have undergone thorough training to ensure they know exactly what you, as a visitor who has come to walk in the footsteps of your ancestors, are looking for.  These organisations will be able to provide you with information on local ancestral research resources and places to visit during your stay in Scotland.

Check out our directory below of current members of the Ancestral Tourism Welcome Scheme.  Membership is constantly growing, so be sure to check back regularly for businesses in Scotland who can help you make your ancestral trip to Scotland just perfect!
