Scotland's most famous writer, the incomparable Robert Burns, was born in the wee Ayrshire village of Alloway. But he wasn't the only towering figure to come from Ayrshire and Arran. The archives under the care of Ayrshire Archives date from the 13th century and their staff are always pleased to see visiting researchers.
